Security Advice

Please consider the following and take action if applicable:

• Lock the front door and any other doors (eg back doors etc) using all available locks
• Ensure that any keys (including the back door) are hidden away and not left in the lock
• Set the burglar alarm if out or asleep (using the “part set” facility as appropriate)
• If there are outside security lights let us know if they are not working
• Purchase a padlock to fit to back/side gate (if any)
• Hide laptops (and other portable valuables) away at all times.  Back-up your work regularly to ensure that it is protected
• Do not open the front door unless you know who is there
• Ensure all windows are closed and any window locks are locked.  All downstairs windows and any other vulnerable windows should be kept closed (even in hot weather) at all times unless someone is actually in the room
• Leave lights/TV on when you are out.  We strongly recommend that you purchase a time switch so that a light comes on when you are away
• Make sure that the voiles are hanging at downstairs windows where supplied
• Take home valuables at holiday times (TVs, videos, laptops, jewellery etc) – including items of sentimental importance
